The San Francisco office of SmithGroup is looking for a Senior Interior Designer to join our team.




Working with us, you will:


Lead the next-generation holistic designs for healing and safe environments for patients, families, physicians, and staff across a spectrum of healthcare project types.

Responsible for the big-picture design concepts that will guide project interior development.

Lead the design efforts for all stages of a project, including leadership with the client, contractors, and internal team.

Lead concepts, planning, and development of interior architectural design solutions.

Lead client presentations, visioning sessions and user meetings.

Manage projects, including negotiating and management of project scope, schedule and fees, job production and quality.

Be responsible for interior team meeting project deadlines and budget constraints.

Consult with manufacturers, research and evaluate FF&E, materials and products materials.

Prepare, coordinate, and complete contract document packages.

Lead construction administration including responding to RFI’s, preparing sketches and addendums, and visiting the construction site to gather information and/or prepare a punch list.

Oversee the design work of others to ensure integrated and cohesive design, supervise preparation of drawings for all project phases, and ensure guidelines, quality control, standards and details.

Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching.

Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested.

Will contribute and participate in an interdisciplinary team environment.



The ideal candidate has:


A bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or equivalent.

Minimum 10 years of related experience.

Architectural or Interior Design registration is required.

LEED AP preferred.

Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and AutoCAD programs.

Experience in planning and designing public spaces for healthcare.
